The bug report addresses an issue where the message "Item was not checked in" erroneously appears during the second POST after a manual or modal check-in process.
1. In circ/returns.pl:
- Introduced a new hash `%rinot_returned` to track items not returned across pages.
- Updated the logic to capture the "not returned" status from the query parameters.
- Adjusted the input processing loop to include `not_returned` status.
- Modified the section handling barcode check-ins to appropriately initialize and update the `not_returned` status.
2. returns.tt:
- Added hidden input fields in the template to include `not_returned` status in the form submissions.
The changes ensure that the "not_returned" status is correctly tracked and displayed, preventing the erroneous message from appearing on subsequent POST requests.
1. Perform a manual check-in of an item, but make some warning modal appear: for ex., transfer: check-in the item in not home library.
2. Press OK on the modal. There will be a POST transition again to redraw the checked-in items list.
3. Verify that the "Item was not checked in" message appears erroneously near the item's row.
4. Apply the patch.
5. Repeat steps 1-3 and check that there will be no erroneous "Item was not checked in" message.

GetOtherReserves attempts to set the waiting/transit status for the next
hold on the list when applicable, but in practice it either leaves the
hold state unchanged, or sets the itemnumber without setting the found
status (erroneously converting bib-level holds to item-level holds).
The latter situation only occurs when the user has been prompted to
confirm, cancel, or revert the hold, and is able to ignore the prompt.
In those situations, the hold's state should not change.
GetOtherReserves does not need to change the hold state, and it does not
do so correctly. Besides that, it does not do much other than call
CheckReserves, and is only used in 3 places.
This patch removes GetOtherReserves, and refactors returns.pl and
C4::Reserves::ModReserveCancelAll to call CheckReserves directly instead.
To test:
1. Place 2 bib-level holds for 2 different patrons (Patron A and Patron
B) on the same record, both for pickup at the logged-in library
2. Check in an item from that record to fill Patron A's hold
3. Set the hold's expiration date to yesterday by accessing the database
in the command line:
- In a ktd shell prompt, open the db client with koha-mysql kohadev
- UPDATE reserves
SET expirationdate = DATE_SUB(CURDATE(), INTERVAL 1 DAY)
WHERE borrowernumber = <Patron A's borrowernumber>
4. Go to Circulation > Holds Awaiting Pickup, and find the hold in the
"holds waiting past their expiration date" tab
5. Click the "Cancel hold" button in the Actions column next to the hold
(do not check in the book)
6. Return to the bib record and look at Patron B's hold
--> Note that Patron B's hold is now an item-level hold and does not
have a waiting status
7. Cancel Patron B's hold
8. Place 2 new holds on the record: one for Patron A at the logged-in
library, and one for Patron B at a different library
9. Check in an item to fill Patron A's hold
10. Repeat steps 3-5 to expire and cancel Patron A's hold
11. Return to the Holds tab of the bib record and look at Patron B's hold
--> Note that Patron B's hold is now an item-level hold, and there is no
"Revert transit status" button
12. Place 2 bib-level holds for 2 different patrons (Patron A and Patron
B) on the same record, both for pickup at the logged-in library
13. Check in an item from that record to fill Patron A's hold
14. Check in the same item again. A modal will pop up, saying that the
hold is already waiting
15. In the modal, choose a cancellation reason and click "Cancel hold"
--> A new modal will pop up to fill Patron B's hold
16. Click "Ignore" on the modal for Patron B's hold
17. Return to the bib record and look at Patron B's hold
--> Note that Patron B's hold is now an item-level hold and does not
have a waiting status
18. Apply patch
19. Repeat steps 1-6
--> Note that Patron B's hold is still a bib-level/"next available" hold
20. Repeat steps 7-11
--> Note that Patron B's hold is still a bib-level/"next available" hold
21. Repeat steps 12-17
--> Note that Patron B's hold is still a bib-level/"next available" hold
Make sure correct behavior is unchanged:
22. Cancel Patron B's hold

25. Check in the same item again. A modal will pop up, saying that the
hold is already waiting
26. In the modal, choose a cancellation reason and click "Cancel hold"
--> A new modal will pop up to fill Patron B's hold
27. Click "Print slip, transfer, and confirm" on the modal for Patron B's hold
--> Confirm that the information on the slip is correct
--> Confirm that the hold is correctly put in transit
22. Set HoldsAutoFill and HoldsAutoFillPrintSlip to "Do"
23. Place a bib-level hold for the logged-in library
24. Check in an item from that bib
--> Confirm the information on the slip is correct
--> Confirm the hold is correctly assigned and set to waiting
25. Place a bib-level hold for a different library
26. Check in an item from that bib
--> Confirm the information on the slip is correct
--> Confirm the hold is correctly put in transit
27. Change the logged-in branch to match the hold pickup location
28. Check the item in
--> Confirm the information on the slip is correct
--> Confirm the hold is correctly assigned and set to waiting
29. Repeat steps 22-26

We're actioning the change of claim status outside of any block that
checks the $item exists. As such we'll want to add that check in here.
I did consider that this should live inside AddIssue, but on reflection
the librarian may want to not proceed with the issue given other return
values from the CanBookBeIssued call, but you still want the
AutoClaimReturn to fire regardless as you've now found the item.

This patch updates the transfer page to make it better match the style
of the checkin page. The static dialog is converted to a modal for
consistency's sake, with information displaying as similarly as
possible to the checkin page. The library dropdown is now styled with
Select2.
To test, apply the patch and go to Circulation -> Transfers.
- Test some simple transfers: Items which are not checked out, some
which are checked out.
- Test that the page's handling of items on hold matches current master
(i.e. broken, see Bug 36686). Description of current behavior:
- Logged in to Branch A.
- Find a barcode for a title which has a biblio-level
hold (not already in transit) to be sent to Branch B.
- Submit transfer to Branch C.
- Three actions are offered:
1. Transfer to Branch B
2. Cancel hold and then attempt transfer
3. Ignore and return to transfers
Testing each of the three actions:
1. The page says "Item is now in transit
to Branch C (not the hold's destination)"
2. The item is not in transit, and the hold
has been changed to an item-level hold.
3. Works correctly. No change to the hold
and no transfer initiated.
- Logged in to Branch A.
- Find a barcode for a title which has a biblio-level
hold (not already in transit) to be sent to Branch B.
- Check in the item, confirm hold and transfer.
- Submit transfer to Branch C.
- Two actions are offered:
1. Cancel hold and then attempt transfer
2. Ignore and return to transfers
Testing each of the two actions:
1. The page says "Reserve cancelled" (sic).
The original transfer to Branch B is still
in place.
2. Works correctly. No change to the hold and
the original transfer remains.
- Logged in to Branch D.
- Find a barcode for a title which has a biblio-level
hold (not already in transit) to be held at Branch D.
- Check in the item, confirm hold.
- Log in to Branch A.
- Submit a transfer with that barcode to Branch C.
- Two actions are offered:
1. Cancel hold and then attempt transfer
2. Ignore and return to transfer.
Testing each of the two actions:

Bug 35518 moved some code blocks to after the call to
get_user_and_template() so that userenv would be populated before it
was needed. This caused a couple variables to be set before the
AutoSwitchPatron block could prevent them from being set. Which broke
AutoSwitchPatron functionality. This clears two variable so that
AuthSwitchPatron works again.
The AutoSwitchPatron clears the $borrowernumber variable to switch
patrons. With the AuthSwitchPatron block moved, the $patron variable
still gets set, and the patron doesn't get switched. The clears the
$patron variable too.
Also clear the barcode list.
The AutoSwitchPatron block got moved, and now the @$barcodes variable
gets filled and not cleared. Leading to a 'Barcode not found' error
when the patron is auto switched.
Test plan:
1. Ensure AutoSwitchPatron is turned on.
2. Select the card number of two patron accounts.
3. Find the first patron in circulation.
4. Enter the second patron's card number in the item barcode field to
switch patrons.

not switch.

7. Enter the second patron's card number in the item barcode field
again.

When there are holds waiting for patrons, sometimes the librarian misses

when checking out an item for a patron with waiting holds.
Test plan:

> confirm hold
5) there should be a "Holds waiting here (1)" section added on user1 page
6) checkout any items that isn't the one on hold for user1
-> notice it just checks out as normal
7) apply patch and update database
8) go to administration > system preferences > switch "WaitingNotifyAtCheckout" to "Notify"
9) refresh page and redo step 6
-> notice there is now a modal to warn the librarian of a waiting hold
click Ok to proceed with the checkout, click outside the modal to not do anything
10) additionnally, the popup shouldn't appear if we checkout any of

librarians to set their own reduceddue date between now and the hard
reduceddue as required for the existing booking.
Test plan
1) Set an item to 'bookable'
2) Add a booking to that item for user A for a few days time.
3) Attempt to checkout the item to user B and note the warning that
the item is booked for another user.
4) With the patch applied, a reduced due date of 1 day prior to the
booking should be defaulted to in the displayed date picker.
5) You should be able to select any date between today and the day
before the booking starts
6) Confirm you can checkout with the reduceddue date set.
7) Bonus point, confirm the field is required, so if you try to wipe it
and then checkout, you will be blocked.
