On bug 17591 we discovered that there was something weird going on with
the way we export and use subroutines/modules.
This patch tries to standardize our EXPORT to use EXPORT_OK only.
That way we will need to explicitely define the subroutine we want to
use from a module.
This patch is a squashed version of:
Bug 17600: After export.pl
Bug 17600: After perlimport
Bug 17600: Manual changes
Bug 17600: Other manual changes after second perlimports run
Bug 17600: Fix tests
And a lot of other manual changes.
export.pl is a dirty script that can be found on bug 17600.
"perlimport" is:
git clone https://github.com/oalders/App-perlimports.git
cd App-perlimports/
cpanm --installdeps .
export PERL5LIB="$PERL5LIB:/kohadevbox/koha/App-perlimports/lib"
find . \( -name "*.pl" -o -name "*.pm" \) -exec perl App-perlimports/script/perlimports --inplace-edit --no-preserve-unused --filename {} \;
The ideas of this patch are to:
* use EXPORT_OK instead of EXPORT
* perltidy the EXPORT_OK list
* remove '&' before the subroutine names
* remove some uneeded use statements
* explicitely import the subroutines we need within the controllers or
modules
Note that the private subroutines (starting with _) should not be
exported (and not used from outside of the module except from tests).
EXPORT vs EXPORT_OK (from
https://www.thegeekstuff.com/2010/06/perl-exporter-examples/)
"""
Export allows to export the functions and variables of modules to user’s namespace using the standard import method. This way, we don’t need to create the objects for the modules to access it’s members.
@EXPORT and @EXPORT_OK are the two main variables used during export operation.
@EXPORT contains list of symbols (subroutines and variables) of the module to be exported into the caller namespace.
@EXPORT_OK does export of symbols on demand basis.
"""
If this patch caused a conflict with a patch you wrote prior to its
push:
* Make sure you are not reintroducing a "use" statement that has been
removed
* "$subroutine" is not exported by the C4::$MODULE module
means that you need to add the subroutine to the @EXPORT_OK list
* Bareword "$subroutine" not allowed while "strict subs"
means that you didn't imported the subroutine from the module:
- use $MODULE qw( $subroutine list );
You can also use the fully qualified namespace: C4::$MODULE::$subroutine

It'd be great if the Search Engine Configuration page would display
the various aliases (shortcuts) available : ti for title, sn for local-number, etc.
Patch changes Koha/SearchEngine/Elasticsearch/QueryBuilder.pm to move
hard-coded vars at the beging and adds a method to provide to %index_field_convert via a method.
Test plan :
1) Use Elasticsearch
2) Go to Administration > Search engine configuration (Elasticsearch)
3) Check you see new column 'Aliases' with for example ti for title.
4) Perform a search 'ti:<title>' and check you get results

Search engine administration is very important,
we should log who/when it is changed.
I don't add a preference system to disable it,
like there is no for preference system logs.
Test plan :
1) Use searchengine Elasticsearch
2) Go to Administation > Search engine configuration (Elasticsearch)
3) Click on 'Reset Mappings' and accept
4) Edit some lines and save
5) Go to 'Tools' > 'Log viewer'
6) Select only 'Search engine' in Modules and submit
7) Select only 'Edit mappings' in Actions
8) Check you see a log
9) Select only 'Reset mappings' in Actions
10) Check you see a log

To test:
1 - Apply patch
2 - ./installer/data/mysql/updatedatabase.pl
3 - Reset ES mapping: Administration->Search engine configuration , button at bottom of page
4 - 'issues' and 'title' mapping under 'search fields' should be mandatory and not editable
5 - On 'Bibliographic records' tab you should not be able to delete the single entry for issues
6 - You should be able to delete 'title' mappings, however, at the final one you should be stopped by javascript
7 - Bonus: force remove the last mapping from the page using developer tools - attempt to save and should be warned of missing mandatory mapping

We certainly faced 3 similar bugs due to this syntax: bug 23006, bug
22941 and bug 17526.
To prevent other issues related to this syntax this patch suggests to
replace them all in one go.

When executing
Koha::SearchEngine::Elasticsearch->reset_elasticsearch_mappings()
against populated search engine mappings tables, one gets this
exception:
DBD::mysql::st execute failed: Duplicate entry '388-73' for key
'PRIMARY' [for Statement \"INSERT INTO `search_marc_to_field` ( `facet`,
`search_field_id`, `search_marc_map_id`, `sort`, `suggestible`) VALUES (
?, ?, ?, ?, ? )\" with ParamValues: 0='', 1='73', 2='388', 3=undef,
4=''] at /usr/share/perl5/DBIx/Class/Storage/DBI.pm line
1834.\nDBIx::Class::Storage::DBI::_dbh_execute(): Duplicate entry
'388-73' for key 'PRIMARY' at /home/koha/Koha/Koha/SearchField.pm line
38"
This patch fixes this, by first deleting all entries, then adding the
default ones.
If a subroutine says reset_elasticsearch_mappings(), I expect it to
reset the elasticsearch mappings without errors. When writing tests it
is better to call that one subroutine reset_elasticsearch_mappings
instead of the bunch of code in
admin/searchengine/elasticsearch/mappings.pl?op=reset_confirmed
Also this promotes code reuse.
TEST PLAN:
a. perl -e 'use Koha::SearchEngine::Elasticsearch; Koha::SearchEngine::Elasticsearch->reset_elasticsearch_mappings'
b. Run misc/devel/populate_db.pl on an already populated DB and you eventually
face this problem.
After this patch, step a. works.

Generate a list of fields for the query_string query fields parameter,
with possible boosts, instead of using "_all"-field. Also add "search"
flag in search_marc_to_field table so that certain mappings can be
excluded from searches. Add option to include/exclude fields in
query_string "fields" parameter depending on searching in OPAC or staff
client. Refactor code to remove all other dependencies on "_all"-field.
How to test:
1) Reindex authorities and biblios.
2) Search biblios and try to verify that this works as expected.
3) Search authorities and try to verify that this works as expected.
4) Go to "Search engine configuration"
5) Change some "Boost", "Staff client", and "OPAC" settings and save.
6) Verify that those settings where saved accordingly.
7) Click the "Biblios" or "Authorities" tab and change one or more
"Searchable" settings
8) Verfiy that those settings where saved accordingly.
9) Try to verify that these settings has taken effect by peforming
some biblios and/or authorities searches.

This patch adds a new section 'Facet order' in the Biblio tab of the
'Search engine configuration' admin page of the Elastic mappings.
The idea is to let the librarians define the facet to display and order
them as their needs.
The ergonomic is not perfect and I am open to any suggestions.
Test plan:
Move up and down the field list to order the facets
Hide/show some facets
Rebuild index
At the OPAC and the staff interface you should see the changes on the
search result page.

So far the administration module only allowed for 2 permissions:
- circulation conditions (manage_circ_rules)
- everything else (parameters_remaining_permissions)
With this patch almost every section of the administration page
will have its own granular permission.
To test:
- Create different staff users:
1) One with parameters_remaining_permissions
2) One with parameters
3) One with catalogue and no parameters
4) One superlibrarian
- Apply the patch
- Run the database update
- Check the staff users:
1) All subpermissions, but manage_circ_rules
should be checked
2) Nothing should have changed
3) manage_item_serach_fields shoudl be checked
(page had catalogue permission before)
4) Nothing should have changed
- Try different settings of the permissions and
verify that
- Administration page behaves correctly
- Administration menu behaves correctly
! You shoudl only see what you have permission for

Improvements:
1) Mappings UI now has button that allows one to reset the mappings.
2) Mappings UI displays the items in alphabetical order.
3) Indexing script drops and recreates the index right away, which
helps prevent ES from autocreating a bad index if someone does something
while the first batch of records is being processed.
4) Indexing script has nicer output.
To test:
1) Change mappings.yaml file
2) Reset mappings in UI in mappings.pl
3) Verify the mappings have been changed in UI
4) The field order is alphabetical
5) Rebuild script has clean output
6) Run test t/db_dependent/Koha_Elasticsearch_Indexer.t

This new page (admin/searchengine/elasticsearch/mappings.pl) will permit
to manage the ES mappings.
For the biblios and authorities indexes, the different mappings can be
managed from this single page.
The interface let you add, remove and update mappings and search fields.
It's also possible to reorder the mappings, as the order can be important
in the indexation process. Note that the table can be displayed in a
different order that the one it was before saving, but the mappings are grouped
by search field and the order inside the search field is preserved.
Limitations:
- If something went wrong during the insertion/deletion/modification,
the users will loose all these changes.
TODO:
- Add a specific permission (?)
- Add some data checks client side (JS)
- Use checkboxes for facet and suggestible (lazy today...)
- Understand the difference between the 3 values that sortable can have
and improve the value for the options in the select box.
