One big patch for one big move.
The "News" feature (opac_news) has been hijacked to handle some system
preferences (bug 26050). The goal was to take profit of the UI (editor)
and the ability to translate the value.
Disclaimer: This patch is NOT offering the best implementation but, as
we still don't have bug 24975, it cannot be done now. And no, we don't
want to wait for it to move forward here. This patch is going into the
right direction anyway.
This enhancement is going to rename the "News" with a more genertic
"Additional contents". We have two different "categories" of content:
"news" and "html customizations".
What does it bring?
- A split on the UI for disambigate the two types of content (news and
syspref/html customizations)
- A simplification of the edit form: all languages will be translatable
on the same view (like the "notice templates")
- Ground will be prepared for different types of content (if needed later)
- Staff news can be translated
How was the "News" area working before this patch?
The opac_news DB table contained a (very inconsistent) 'lang' column.
The different values were:
- '' => news to display at the OPAC and staff interfaces
- 'koha' => news for staff only
- 'slip' => news for slip notices
- $lang => news for OPAC only, translated in $lang ('en', 'es-ES', etc.)
- "$location_$lang" => A syspref moved to this "news" area. The syspref
is $location, and is translated in $lang. Eg. OpacLoginInstructions_en,
OpacLoginInstructions_fr-FR, opacheader_es-ES
This patch is improving the DB structure with the following changes:
- renaming 'opac_news' with 'additional_contents'
- new 'category' column
=> 'news' or 'html_customizations'
- new 'location' column
=> For 'news': 'staff_and_opac', 'staff_only', 'slip'
=> For 'html_customizations': the old syspref name (eg. 'OpacLoginInstructions').
- new 'code' column (see later for more info)
- the 'lang' column will only contain the language code ('en', 'es-ES',
etc.). BUT a 'default' entry will ALWAYS exist for fallback behaviour.
We are getting closer to the 'notice template' table structure because
we want to match its UI. The 'code' column will bring us the ability to
group the different 'additional_contents' rows. The code for a given
news will be the same, but the (lang, title, content) will differ.
Examples:
News 1 will have, for each of the translated versions
(category, code, location, branchcode)
('news', 'News1', $location, $branchcode||undef)
And the 3 following columns will differ:
(title, content, lang)
('title for news 1', 'content for news 1', 'default')
('titulo para 1', 'contenido para 1', 'es-ES')
Note that the "category" is not strictely necessary, but it seems better
to have the ability to split the different content by category/type
easily.
Additional changes:
- Syspref 'NewsToolEditor' is renamed 'AdditionalContentsEditor'
- Koha::NewItem => Koha::AdditionalContent
- Koha::News => Koha::AdditionalContents
- Script and template renamed from koha-news to additional-contents
- Foreign keys have been renamed
- Subpermission edit_news has been renamed edit_additional_contents
- The UI can now be accessed via a "News" or "HTML customizations" link
from the tools module. The related contents will then be displayed (both
categories are now split)
Changes not done here:
- Primary key 'idnew' could be renamed 'id'
Limitations of the upgrade:
News cannot be grouped by a unique code for existing translations.
=> A given news will be now displayed several times on the translated
interface
Any ideas to improve the upgrade behaviour?
We will have to add a warning in the release notes to tell libraries to
review their news.
Test plan:
0. Don't apply the patches
1. Translate the interfaces in some languages
. Create some news for staff and OPAC
. Create some content for different entry of HTML customizations
Note that you are forced to define a 'default'.
Also note that you are only forced to fill the title (not the content).
This is certainly problematic (see FIXME in the code) as sometime only
the content is displayed.
. Play with the interface (edit, delete, filter)
. Go to the different places the news are displayed, and confirm they
are displayed correctly (staff home, opac home, opac rss)
. Create 1+ news for 'slip', check an item out and 'print slip' (from
the circulation page). You must see the news.
. Go to the different places you are expecting the HTML customizations
to be present and confirm that you see them.
. Switch the lang of the interface and confirm that you now see the
content in the translated version
. Generate the templates in another language, don't translate the
content
. Use this language for the interface and confirm that the 'default'
version is displauyed.

The history view of an accountline shows increases and decreases in the
amount outstanding from the perspective of the credit/debit line you are
inspecting.
Apply creates a negative offset amount which acts to 'reduce' both the
outstanding 'debt' for the debit line and the outstanding 'credit' for
the credit line. Starting with a negative offset for the credit thus
makes this nonsenical.
Void creates positive offset amounts which act to 'restore' both the
outstanding 'debt' for the debit line and the outstanding 'credit' for
the credit line.

There are two things here:
* Branches.pickup_location has a default = 1 in DB, we should not set to undef if 0
or it will be set to 1 when stored.
* The other fields are all text (varchar, mediumtext or longtext) and
can be NULL. They are correct set to NULL when a new library is created
but set to an empty string when the library is modified. That's not
consistent
Test plan:

On bug 17591 we discovered that there was something weird going on with
the way we export and use subroutines/modules.
This patch tries to standardize our EXPORT to use EXPORT_OK only.
That way we will need to explicitely define the subroutine we want to
use from a module.
This patch is a squashed version of:
Bug 17600: After export.pl
Bug 17600: After perlimport
Bug 17600: Manual changes
Bug 17600: Other manual changes after second perlimports run
Bug 17600: Fix tests
And a lot of other manual changes.
export.pl is a dirty script that can be found on bug 17600.
"perlimport" is:
git clone https://github.com/oalders/App-perlimports.git
cd App-perlimports/
cpanm --installdeps .
export PERL5LIB="$PERL5LIB:/kohadevbox/koha/App-perlimports/lib"
find . \( -name "*.pl" -o -name "*.pm" \) -exec perl App-perlimports/script/perlimports --inplace-edit --no-preserve-unused --filename {} \;
The ideas of this patch are to:
* use EXPORT_OK instead of EXPORT
* perltidy the EXPORT_OK list
* remove '&' before the subroutine names
* remove some uneeded use statements
* explicitely import the subroutines we need within the controllers or
modules
Note that the private subroutines (starting with _) should not be
exported (and not used from outside of the module except from tests).
EXPORT vs EXPORT_OK (from
https://www.thegeekstuff.com/2010/06/perl-exporter-examples/)
"""
Export allows to export the functions and variables of modules to user’s namespace using the standard import method. This way, we don’t need to create the objects for the modules to access it’s members.
@EXPORT and @EXPORT_OK are the two main variables used during export operation.
@EXPORT contains list of symbols (subroutines and variables) of the module to be exported into the caller namespace.
@EXPORT_OK does export of symbols on demand basis.
"""
If this patch caused a conflict with a patch you wrote prior to its
push:
* Make sure you are not reintroducing a "use" statement that has been
removed
* "$subroutine" is not exported by the C4::$MODULE module
means that you need to add the subroutine to the @EXPORT_OK list
* Bareword "$subroutine" not allowed while "strict subs"
means that you didn't imported the subroutine from the module:
- use $MODULE qw( $subroutine list );
You can also use the fully qualified namespace: C4::$MODULE::$subroutine

This patch adds additional delivery notes to messages in message queue as there
can be multiple reasons for a delivery to fail.
Currently in message_queue we are given only two delivery statuses for messages,
"sent" and "failed". When the status becomes failed, we have no idea why it fails.
This feature can be useful with SMS gateway providers. Many SMS gateways inform
the application the reason of SMS delivery failure. With this feature, this
information can now be stored. As well as for emails, instead of simply logging
failures, we can now store the reason of failure directly into the message row
of message_queue.
Test plan:
1. Enable EnhancedMessagingPreferences syspref
2. Find a borrower with notices at members/notices.pl
3. Observe that there is no column for Delivery notes
4. Apply patch and run the given database update
5. Repeat step 1.
6. Observe that there is now a column for Delivery notes

This commit allows librarians to choose whether they want to query the
homebranch, holdingbranch or homebranch AND holdingbranch when they set
a library or library group search condition in the staff client and OPAC
advanced searches.
Test plan:
1. Apply patches, update database, restart services
2. Set up a record with one item. Edit the item so that:
home branch = Branch A
holding/current branch = Branch B.
Note the barcode of your item.
3. Go to Administration -> Library Groups. Create a library group that
only contains Branch A.
= homebranch and holdingbranch =
4. Go to Administration -> System preferences and find the new
SearchLimitLibrary syspref. Confirm it is set to 'homebranch and
holdingbranch' by default. Keep this tab open.
5. Go to Advanced Search in the staff client in another tab. Under 'location and
availability', select your library group from the dropdown. Under
'search for', select the barcode option and enter your item's barcode.
6. Submit the search and confirm you are taken to your item as expected.
7. Go back to Advanced Search. Under 'location and availability', select
Branch A from the individual libraries dropdown. Under 'search for',
select the barcode option and enter your item's barcode.
8. Submit the search and confirm you are taken to your item as expected.
9. Go back to Advanced Search. Under 'location and availability', select
Branch B from the individual libraries dropdown. Under 'search for',
select the barcode option and enter your item's barcode.
10. Submit the search and confirm you are taken to your item as expected.
= homebranch only =
11. Go back to your System preferences tab. Set the SearchLimitLibrary
syspref to 'homebranch'. keep this tab open.
12. Go to Advanced Search in the staff client in another tab. Under 'location and
availability', select your library group from the dropdown. Under
'search for', select the barcode option and enter your item's barcode.
13. Submit the search and confirm you are taken to your item as expected,
because the syspref is set to homebranch and the library group contains our item's
homebranch.
14. Go back to Advanced Search. Under 'location and availability', select
Branch A from the individual libraries dropdown. Under 'search for',
select the barcode option and enter your item's barcode.
15. Submit the search and confirm you are taken to your item as expected.
16. Go back to Advanced Search. Under 'location and availability', select
Branch B from the individual libraries dropdown. Under 'search for',
select the barcode option and enter your item's barcode.
17. Submit the search and confirm you are NOT taken to your item and your item
does not show in the search results.
= holdingbranch only =
18. Go back to your System preferences tab. Set the SearchLimitLibrary
syspref to 'holdingbranch'. keep this tab open.
19. Go to Advanced Search in the staff client in another tab. Under 'location and
availability', select your library group from the dropdown. Under
'search for', select the barcode option and enter your item's barcode.
20. Submit the search and confirm you are NOT taken to your item and your
item does not show in the search results, because the syspref is set to
holdingbranch and the library group does not contain our item's holdingbranch.
21. Go back to Advanced Search. Under 'location and availability', select
Branch B from the individual libraries dropdown. Under 'search for',
select the barcode option and enter your item's barcode.
22. Submit the search and confirm you are taken to your item as expected.
23. Go back to Advanced Search. Under 'location and availability', select
Branch A from the individual libraries dropdown. Under 'search for',
select the barcode option and enter your item's barcode.
24. Submit the search and confirm you are NOT taken to your item and your item
does not show in the search results.

This patch adds an atomic update file that takes care of translating
existing rules. It constrains the rules to translate to those currently
expected by Koha and leaves any other value out.
To test:
1. Have some manually added rules:
$ koha-mysql kohadev
> INSERT INTO circulation_rules (rule_name,rule_value) VALUES
('holdallowed', -1);
> INSERT INTO circulation_rules (rule_name,rule_value) VALUES
('holdallowed', 1);
> INSERT INTO circulation_rules (rule_name,rule_value) VALUES
('holdallowed', 2);
> INSERT INTO circulation_rules (rule_name,rule_value) VALUES
('holdallowed', 3);
> INSERT INTO circulation_rules (rule_name,rule_value) VALUES
('holdallowed', 0);
> INSERT INTO circulation_rules (rule_name,rule_value) VALUES
('holdallowed', 4);
2. Apply this patch
3. Run:
$ updatedatabase
=> SUCCESS: It doesn't explode
4. Verify the created rules were updated correctly:
> SELECT * FROM circulation_rules WHERE rule_name='holdallowed';
5: Verify all the tests that dealt with this rule still pass!
$ kshell
k$ git diff origin/master --name-only | grep -e '\.t$' | \

Koha doesn't automatically set expiration date for holds
so they can live in the system forever. This patch adds
new sysprefs to control setting of default expiration
date for holds. Note that expiration date is only set
if input field for it is left blank.
To test:
1. Apply patch and update database.
2. Enable syspref "DefaultHoldExpirationdate" and set some values
to "DefaultHoldExpirationdatePeriod" and
"DefaultHoldExpirationdateUnitOfTime".
3. Add some holds for patron from staff client or OPAC and leave
expiration date input field blank.

This patch enhances auto_renewals message, removes auto_renewals messaging preference when AutoRenewalNotices is not set to ‘preferences’ and uses that preference to send notices in automatic_renewals.pl script.
To test:
1. Apply patches
2. updatedatabase
3. make sure automatic renewals are allowed in circ rules, have a positive number of allowed renewals and a positive number for renewal period
4. Check AutoRenewalNotices preference
SUCCESS => AutoRenewalNotices has the value ‘cron’ (means that It keeps the usual behaviour)
5. Checkout two items for a patron, and set them as automatic renewal and set due date as your current yesterday
6. perl misc/cronjobs/automatic_renewals.pl -c -v
SUCCESS => items were renewed, but there is no message in message_queue table in mysql
7. Repeat step 5
8. perl misc/cronjobs/automatic_renewals.pl -c -s -v
SUCCESS => items were renewed, and there is one message per item in message_queue table in mysql
9. Change AutoRenewalNotices to ‘never’
10. Repeat step 5
11. perl misc/cronjobs/automatic_renewals.pl -c -s -v
SUCCESS => items were renewed, but there is no message in message_queue table in mysql, even with the -s switch
12. Check any patron’s category, and any detail page in staff or OPAC interface, and in any of them you should find Auto Renewals messaging preference
13. Change AutoRenewalNotices to ‘preferences’
14. Repeat step 12, but this time all of them shows the Auto Renewals messaging preference.
15. Repeat step 5 with a patron that has no messaging preference setted
16. perl misc/cronjobs/automatic_renewals.pl -c -s -v
SUCCESS => items were renewed, but there is no message in message_queue table in mysql, because patron didn’t choose to receive messages
17. Grab a category and modify auto renewals messaging preferences, and save
18. Create a new patron from that category.
SUCCESS => created patron has the same messaging preference for auto renewals
19. Grab that patron and change auto renewals messaging preference to email but not digest
20. Repeat step 5 for that last patron.
21. perl misc/cronjobs/automatic_renewals.pl -c -v
SUCCESS => Items were renewed, and there is a message for each item in message_queue table in mysql.
22. Change auto renewals messaging preference from the same patron and set to email and digest.
23. Repeat step 5.
24. perl misc/cronjobs/automatic_renewals.pl -c -v
SUCCESS => items where renewed, and now there is only one message in message_queue table with the details of both renewed items.
25. Check that any changes to a patron’s auto renewals messaging preference in staff is reflected in OPAC, and the other way arround too.

This patch adds a new type of system preference entry option: patron
category. A preference with this type will show either a <select> with
patron categories to choose from or a multiple-select menu for choosing
one or more.
This prevents possible errors from incorrect category codes being
entered manually.
To test, apply the patch and run the database update.
- Go to Administration -> System preferences.
- Test each of the updated preferences to confirm that the available
options are correct and that your selections are correctly saved.
- Single category selections, PatronSelfRegistrationDefaultCategory
and GoogleOpenIDConnectDefaultCategory. With each of these you
should see a dropdown where you can select of all the existing
patron categories.
- Multiple selections, OPACHoldsIfAvailableAtPickup and
BatchCheckouts: These preferences should have an option for
selecting one or more system preferences at once.
- Test the pages affected by the updated system preferences:
- With BatchCheckouts enabled, confirm that the batch checkout page is
correctly limited by patron category.
- Set the OPACHoldsIfAvailableAtPickup preference to "Don't allow" and
select at least one patron category in the
OPACHoldsIfAvailableAtPickupExceptions preference.
- Log in to the OPAC as a patron whose category was not selected in
the OPACHoldsIfAvailableAtPickupExceptions preference.
- Try to place a hold on an item which is available at a library.
- When confirming the hold, the libraries where the item is available
should be disabled in the "Pick up location" dropdown.
- Repeat the process as a patron whose category was selected in
OPACHoldsIfAvailableAtPickupExceptions. There should be no disabled
pickup locations.

Updates the slip templates to use [% today | $KohaDates %].
Adding an explicit USE statement is not necessary in this case.
To test:
- When testing the feature according to the test plan, make sure
that the date for today shows up formatted to the DateFormat
system preference.
Note: As we are printing today's checkins, I have intentionally left
oft the time. But it could be easily added if a library wanted it.

To test:
1) Apply patch and run installer
2) Check out two items (or more) to a borrower
3) Check in two items (or more) for this borrower (you should end up on
circ/returns.pl)
4) Notice the checked-in items table has started building. There should
be a new column with the button 'Print checkin slip' in each row.
5) Click the button and confirm the checkin slip opens for printing in a
new window.
6) Go to the patron's account
7) Click the Print dropdown. Confirm there is a 'Print checkin slip'
option. Click this and confirm the checkin slip opens for printing in a
new window.

This query:
SELECT *
FROM items
LEFT JOIN issues
ON issues.itemnumber=items.itemnumber
WHERE items.onloan IS NULL;
returns 961 rows on the sample data, with 2 items checked out and onloan
set to NULL.
With this tweak, the query only matches the 2 checkout items with onloan
set to NULL:
SELECT *
FROM items
LEFT JOIN issues
ON issues.itemnumber=items.itemnumber
WHERE items.onloan IS NULL AND issues.issue_id IS NOT NULL;
This is the query that needs to be used on the atomic update for
filtering the items to be updated.
This patch does that.

The CheckPrevCheckout allows to check a borrower's checkout history to see if
the current item has been checked out before.
This patch adds an optional syspref: CheckPrevCheckoutDelay
It allows to specify the maximum number of days since the last checkin
that will trigger CheckPrevCheckout's warning.
Test plan:
- Apply the patch.
- Set CheckPrevCheckout to "Do" and CheckPrevCheckoutDelay to n.
- Checkout and check-in an item for a patron.
- Try to checkout the same item.
- Check that you have a warning:
"Patron has previously checked out this title: Check out anyway?"
- Update the returndate column from the old_issues table to have a returndate
older than n days ago.
- Try to checkout the same item.
- Check that you don't have the warning.
- Prove t/db_dependent/Patron/Borrower_PrevCheckout.t

This patch changes the interface to remove the undef option
We also update existing mappings and set default of 1
Comment previously indicated undef was treated differently, but in the code we treat undef as 1
That code is untoched to avoid creating problems for older mappings that may be reloaded
To test:
1 - View the ES mappings, note you can set columns to Undef, 0, 1
2 - Set some to undef
3 - Apply patches
4 - Update database
5 - Undef now show as 'Yes'
6 - Confirm you can set columns as Yes/no
7 - Confirm that mandatory columns display correct value when readonly (see issues field)

We should remove all SQL queries that contain 0000-00-00 and finally
assume we do not longer have such value in our DB (for date type)
We already dealt with such values in previous update DB entries.
The 2 added by this one haven't been replaced already.
The code will now assume that either a valid date exist, or NULL/undef.
Test plan:
QA review is needed and test of the different places where code is
modified.

When UseACQFrameworkForBiblioRecords is set, the ACQ framework will be
use when ordering.
But the leader is not defined for this framework and then we will face
encoding issues (I haven't go far investigating this as the suggested
solution worked correctly).
The idea is to define a 000 and default to ' nam a22 7a 4500'
(which is what returns the marc21_leader.pl plugin) for ACQ.
Test plan:
0. Apply this patch and reset_all
1. Create a new basket and place a new order
2. Note that the leader is now displayed on top of the other ACQ
subfields
3. Fill in 245 with "❤️", "ö" or other UTF-8 characters you like
4. Save
5. Notice that 245$a in biblio_metadata is correctly filled with the
title you entered

If you are coming from an old version of Koha, you may face an upgrade
error for the SQL query using 0000-00-00.
The idea was to fix it, but actually the DBMS will raise an error (not
blocking the upgrade process however).
We can hide them to not cause confusion
Errors are like:
DBD::mysql::db do failed: Incorrect date value: '0000-00-00' for column 'suggesteddate' at row 1 [for Statement "UPDATE suggestions SET suggesteddate = '1970-01-01' WHERE suggesteddate = '0000-00-00';"] at /kohadevbox/koha/installer/data/mysql/updatedatabase.pl line 23312.
Test plan:
Checkout an old version of Koha (3.20, not older)
Insert a dump, install Koha
Checkout a recent version of Koha, apply the patch (or use master)
Execute the upgrade process
You should not see the errors
